Within the world of work opportunities to our students and linking with organisations is key to developing skills and experiences. Opportunities with us and our students provide employers with first hand access to large student populations and potential employees of the future.
It is also an opportunity to shape and inspire our students and develop their aspirations.
We continue to source new partnerships with employers and organisations throughout the year. Our students tell us that they are inspired and learn a lot from the first hand experiences, knowledge and guidance provided by external guest speakers.
We can tailor opportunities to your availability and preference.
Should you wish to learn more, have an informal chat or discuss a possible opportunity, please do contact us using the contact section at the bottom of this page.
Work experience provides an invaluable opportunity for young people to gain an insight into, and experience the world of work. It is a placement that will support and guide students in their chosen field. The placement will be focused on developing the relevant practical and technical skills required for the profession or trade that the students are studying.
The placement is a structured work plan and all information will be shared with employers and the students this will be reviewed throughout the placement. Placement sets students up for success with work-ready preparation including appropriate work ethic, expectations and professional etiquette and any additional support will be provided to students and placement by the Placement Officer. There is a vast potential for learning through work experience. The use of placements in business and industry can help young people to develop the skills and attitudes they need for employment. It reinforces that learning takes place out of, as well as in, the classroom, and enhances the students’ perceptions of the relevance of the work they undertake in college.
We work with external employers to gain industry knowledge. Links to local and national employers provide.
